Patrick Makau, the new King of the Marathon
Patrick Mikau has made it official! 2:03.38 for 26.2 miles, take that IAAF Ruling body!
Patrick won the Boston Marathon is a world record time, but it could not be an official time or world record because the Boston marathon is considered to be a "loop" course. So...what does Patrick do? He goes to Berlin and runs the fastest time ever by a human over the grueling 26.2 miles. Take that IAAF Ruling Body!!!
Congrats to Patrick and the Kenyan people for taking back the Marathon world record from the Ethopians this past Sunday.

THE BREAKDOWN:
43 per mile, 70.75 per 400m, and he ran 105 x 400m…I can’t even comprehend that!
3.1 miles/5km: 14:36
6.2 miles/10km: 29:17
9.375 miles/15km: 43:51
12.5 miles/20km: 58:20
15.6 miles/25km: 1:13.18
18.75 miles/30km: 1:27.38
21.87 miles/35km: 1:42.16
25 miles/40km: 1:57.15
26.2 miles/42km: 2:03.38
Half split: 1:01.44
2nd half split: 1:01.54
It was so sad to see my Hero Haile have to drop out! It is a changing of the guard, so to speak...Patrick stepping up as the new King of the Marathon and Haile "The Little Emperor" stepping aside.
I am really looking forward to seeing what Patrick is able to do in London next summer!
Please keep an eye on this running God and until next time...
Go Get'em!
Domo Arigato Mr. Roboto
Mr. Roboto would be a happy man or in this case a robot if he saw his fellow man or machine taking on such a daunting distance!
Tiny robots took the ultimate challenge, completing the marathon distance of 26.2 miles. This "Robomarafull" event took place in Osaka, Japan inside a building, in a controlled environment, and consisted of 423 laps around a 62 meter track.

A humanoid robot "Robovie PC" (right) of Japanese robot venture Vstone crosses the finish line of the world's first full-length marathon for two-legged robots in Osaka. Robovie-PC, a toy-sized humanoid, won the world's first full-length marathon for two-legged robots by a whisker Saturday, beating its closest rival by a single second after more than two days of racing.
The Robots could not be assisted in anyway, just like in a marathon for human, except the robot owners or designers could touch the robots to change out the batteries and servomotors. In addition, if the Robots topple over or fall down they have to stand back up unaided. The athletes can either run autonomously, following the colored course, or be controlled remotely.
Something all of us marathoners would love to have happen during the marathon!!
Five robots are participated in the race, fielded by universities and local robotics firm Vstone, an organizer of the event along with the Osaka government.
The race lasted to take two days. It coincides with the 2011 Tokyo Marathon, which has its own high-tech runners.
Last November, Panasonic's Evolta robot mascot completed a 300-mile trek from Tokyo to Kyoto to show off the firm's rechargeable batteries.

Houston, here we come!
The 39th Chevron Houston Marathon will take place on 30 Jan 2011 and should be a fantastic race!

Teshome Gelana returns to Houston to defend his 2010 title. Last year, Gelana's set a new course record of hours, 7 minutes, 37 seconds which took 15 seconds off the previous course record set in 2009 by fellow Ethiopian Deriba Merga, Merga won the Boston Marathon in 2009 and is a force to be reckoned with.
"In recent years, our marathon has become known for introducing exciting new talent at both national and international levels. We've had six course records in the last four years," said Brant Kotch, Race Director, "Although many factors play a role in an extraordinary performance, we have every reason to expect some outstanding results on Sunday, given the very solid field that our elite athlete committee has assembled."
Also competing on Sunday is a hot new Talent Brett Gotcher, who has run 2:10 and seems to be in incredible form this year.
The 2011 Chevron Houston Marathon prize purse exceeds $139,000 with $35,000 for each race champion and has a protected cap of 22,000 participants. Of the 22,000 entries, 11,000 entries are reserved for each of the marathon and half marathon fields. The competition begins Sunday at 6:45am with the wheelchair start for the marathon and half-marathon.
